Homebrew - American Pale Ale

This was the last kit we had not done from our local organic food shop, the only place in town for homebrew supplies. Looking at the ingredients we were expecting something similar to their English PA kit.

Ingredients: American Pale Ale, Extract kit from Brewer's Best
Brew: 03 Jul 2011
Rack: 08 Jul 2011 (5)
Bottle: 24 Jul 2011 (16)
Ready: 24 Aug 2011 (31)
Summary: Primary 5 days, Secondary 16 days, Condition 31 days

Funny taste on first one worried me. Still more yeast in the bottles than we want but some had no sediment. Taste improved after a few :) Not as good as English PA kit. 5 days for primary seemed a bit short but we were following the recipe guide. I think at this point we probably know enough about what we are doing that we can start using the recipe as a guide and not a rule book.
